Philosophy
In architecture, I agree with Louis Sullivan who said, “Form follows function,” and I also aspire to make “form bring delight.”
At the center of my practice are my clients and my commitment to create spaces to support, even enhance people's lives. I’ve been fortunate to work with people who are open to new ideas, fun to collaborate with, and thoughtful partners throughout the design process. Their interest in living according to their own principles serves as the foundation of my work. It’s a privilege to create homes and offices which align with their desires and dreams, and enhance the way they live.

Knowledge of Architecture history, styles, and opportunities.
I draw upon my knowledge of architecture, its history and possibilities, to give presence and delight to the spaces where my clients want to live and work. My extensive experiences traveling give me resources to use as I design. The conversations with clients shape the design process, guiding me to prioritize plan, proportion, light, views, site, and craftsmanship, while also considering practicality, maintainability, and cost. New technologies, materials, and practices offer an exciting array of options, but they only make sense if they are in agreement with the clients’ priorities and the overall design solution.
I have always viewed my role as a creative problem solver, but I also see myself as an artist, adding previously unimagined possibilities to every design. My goal is to create buildings that are not only thoroughly considered but also surprisingly delightful. Ultimately, the final design is the cohesive, creative solution to my clients’ needs and aspirations.
